The math just doesn't work

A friend forwarded me the ad below in an email as a joke. The "Frumster" dating service ain't exactly my scene, but I have logged on once or twice out of curiosity. What I find fascinating is how blatantly they misrepresent themselves. When I logged on I saw no more than 75 active members. Plus, orthodox people I know who are, or were members have confirmed that Frumster's membership is miniscule, and getting smaller by the second. If they're really marrying off 24 couples a month, as the ad below claims, they'd be out of members in three. Unless, of course, the Jewish calendar has like 8,000 days per month.

Makes me kind of yearn for the way Jdate would say there were "36,000 members currently online" when I would see the same 100 profiles every time I USED to log in.

A dating site involved in false advertising?...Never seen that before.

Is it me or is there something very Mormon-ish about that ad?

More Moonie-ish, I think. With the whole mass wedding vibe.

They mean there are at least 24 frum people getting married a month, in the world, not neccessarily on frumster. The logic is: pay us money - will we help you find your mate, probably not; but will we hinder you, also no. The truth is, it's all in the hands of Hashem. All one needs to do is show an effort, buy the lottery ticket of subscription. As long as one made an effort, Hashem can't punish you for never getting married. All one needs to do is subscribe, and then go on enjoying one's life with a clear conscience.

So it's not enough I gotta hear my mother bitch to me about not being married? I need to worry about incurring the wrath of god too? CHRIST! Can't a Jew get a break?

"As long as one made an effort, Hashem can't punish you for never getting married."

Did I actually read that or was I sent back in time to the stone ages for a brief moment and only thought I heard someone say that?

I kinda like frumster... sometimes it's a little scary, but there seems to be plenty of people (all in NY, though) and some newbies every time I log on. I'm not sure how many girls are on it though... since I'm looking for boys...

lilbt, good luck, and hopefully the almighty lord won't smite you down because you're making an effort to find your bashert...because otherwise, you'd be in serious shit with the man upstairs.

How about if you're just on frumster to get laid? Does that count as making an effort, or will god strike you down with a lighhting bolt for that?

I had my profile on Frumster up for a couple of months, mainly to get some really annoying people off my back, but I finally removed it due to the majority of COMPLETELY weird psychos there.

I got marriage proposals in my emails. WTF?
