The Obama Hater

I almost never discuss politics or religion on dates, but last night, I did both. When the TV hanging above the bar started to flash something about the presidential election, my date felt the need to start our own little, 2 person McLaughlin Group.

"So who do you think is gonna win?" she asked.

"When it comes down to it, I think most Americans will feel most comfortable with the old, white guy. Just like they always do. So McCain will probably be the next president."

"As long as it's not Obama," she remarked, seeming almost relieved by my prediction.

"Not an Obama fan?," I inquired.

"Well, I mean, he hates the Jews, doesn't he?"

"I hadn't heard anything about that. I'm sure his campaign would be long over (just like I wish this date was), if that were public knowledge," I said and thought.

"But he's a black Muslim," she proclaimed.

"His father was, but he belongs to some Christian Church. Besides, not all black Muslims are Farrakhan disciples," I said.

"What's a Farrakhan disciple?," she asked.

Luckily, her cell phone rang before I had to give her a lecture about the Nation of Islam. She shut it off, and apologized, but by then I was busy paying the bill. Even luckier, was the fact that I had exact change with the tip. Our exit and eventual parting of ways was quick and painless.

Oh yeah, did I mention she's a teacher?

At least she knows who Obama is. I went out with a chick recently who had no clue who was running.

Of course she's a teacher! What else could someone so clueless be?

Overton...that was a low blow. Just yesterday I was chatting with a corporate consultant who was totally unashamed to admit that whenever she hears the name Obama she immediately thinks of Saddam Hussein. WTF?! Not only is she dumb enough to let something that inane effect the way she votes, but she is also not embarrassed to say such a ridiculous idea out loud! All I’m saying is that there are stupid people in every profession and DON’T GO DIGGIN ON TEACERS!!!!

Please tell me she's a social studies teacher. That would be too perfect.

Okay, she's a social studies teacher. I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised.

OK, I say give her a break. Yeah, she had some of her facts mixed up, but she is not totally off base. He was raised Muslim and went to a Muslim school and became Christian a little later in life. I have also heard he is pro Palestinian, which to me translates into not a Jew fan. Jessica

It's amazing to me how ignorant people are and how misinformed they are. "Anonymous" above states Obama was raised Muslim and went to a Muslim school. Neither are true. Obama was in fact not raised with any religion and became a Christian as an adult. His father was raised muslim, but had become an athiest by the time he met Barrack's mom. His mom was never religious, nor was his Indonesian stepfather. He has not expressed any opinion on Palestine and even if he had, one can be both pro-Palestine & pro-Israel. It's called being pro-peace, which is what he is.

Obama may be "pro-peace," but he surrounds himself with Hamas sympathizers. See http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/02/019828.php

So what if he's part muslim. You don't have to be a hater just cause you follow islam.
