LOL

I have never, nor will I ever use the term "LOL" when speaking to someone online. If a person says something funny, they'll just have to trust that I laughed. I'm not even entirely sure what it stands for. Laugh out loud? Laugh on Line? Who knows? But in the case of the genius with whom I Im'd last night, it must stand for Loser On Line, or Low intelligence on line. Her entire contribution to the conversation was "LOL". No matter what I wrote, she responded with "LOL." If I was doing an online stand up act, I would have killed. But I was trying to have a semi-intelligent conversation, and I felt like taking my own life. If she were my 9 year old niece, it might have been cute, but for a 31 year old woman, not so much. And surprise, surprise, she's a special ed teacher too. I just always assumed the special ed part referred to the students, not the teachers.

Maybe it stands for lonely on line...probably because they have nothing interesting or intelligent to say to people.

If inotelrance is defined as wanting someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation, then I'm an intolerant bastard!

On a side note - isn't there no such thing as laughing "out loud"? Isn't it "aloud"? But I guess no one will get LAL or LA, eh?
