SKANKVILLE/YORKVILLE: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Maybe I need to leave the house more often, or maybe the Upper East Side has suddenly become New York's red light district, but I couldn't believe how many women I saw standing on street corners last night in tit-revealing tops, super short skirts and stripper shoes - the kinds with the ridiculously high heels and the straps everywhere. I'm generally not one to complain about scantily clad women, especially when that special brand of summer horniness kicks in (guys, you know what I'm talking about), but there was something a bit sad about these women. They all seemed like they were trying too hard - like a guy at a club wearing a muscle shirt who flexes every time he raises his beer.

Whether they had the bodies to pull it off, or whether they looked like the woman on 73rd street whose breasts were literally outside her top (it wasn't pretty, but I had to look), they all looked uncomfortable - both physically and emotionally. Give me a slim chick with a pretty face in a t-shirt, jeans and flip-flops, and I'm good. That's exactly what I was wearing last night and no one looked at my tits with pity in their eyes.

aww this IS sad... I have often wondered if guys sometimes felt what I thought sometimes too (and yes, I am insisting on the 'sometimes'). Which is why I so rarely wear skirts when I go out...or more exactly, I almost never wear skirts when I go out alone (aka, without a man).

There are those nights when no matter what we do we just see the game and stay outside... I sit there and suddenly I see couples dancing as a strange mating ritual. Ok, maybe it's just me.

I can't help in wanting to ask about your aversion to women that aren't skinny. I know men like you exist in the world and as a slightly heavy woman who fights it everyday of her life, it hurts some. But I know it's out there and it's a reality. I'm curious as to you honest reasoning for that.

Kinky- I can't speak for all men, but for me, it's not an aversion to heavier women- it's simply a preference for slimmer women. I find slimness sexy on a woman the same way I find long hair sexier than short...or the way I find an English or Australian accent sexy, but I don't love an Eastern European accent. I'm just one guy with his own peculiar, superficial tastes.
